Pretty Poison is a title with tongue in cheek. I think it's such a pretty wildflower. It is commonly called Prickly Poison because it contains 1080 poison and when the British settled in Australia, they lost a lot of livestock to this family of plants. Australian native animals have a natural resistance to the poison in this plant. Its latin name is Gastrolobium spinosum.
This is a print on canvas and the image is mirrored around the sides of the frame, so there is no need for decorative framing. It can be hung directly on your wall.

Harsh Hakea prostrata is a typical Australian native wildflower and you will love the detail in this painting. I portray the spiky leaves and delicate flowers just beautifully. Hakeas are really beautiful and once you discover them you will want one in your garden.
Can you spot the Orb weaver spider hiding behind a leaf?
This one will become a great talking point in your home. The colours will suit any décor. This is a reproduction giclee print on fine art paper and comes ready for you to frame.

Shearing sheds have a very special atmosphere that tells of the characters of days gone by.
Boogardie shearing shed at Mt Magnet in Western Australia has so many great scenes behind each door. The original shed was built in the 1800s from the lovely local orange granite. Because of drought in the area, the shed hasn't been used for a few years. The sheep have been agisted to greener pastures closer to the coast.
Your friends will be drawn to the warmth in this work and it will get the stories flowing.
It is an original oil painting on canvas and has been finished with a protective varnish.
The image is painted around the sides of the frame so doesn't need a decorative frame. It comes ready to hang.

After the Fire represents the beauty that results from bushfires and a comment on the controversial practice of hazard burning in our Australia's forests. I came across Cyanicula sericea (Silky blue orchid) in the bush and noticed they were growing in the charred remains from a summer fire. I was inspired by the kaleidoscope of colour and the contrasts of orange and blue. The blackened ground was dotted with new shoots of green growth. The timing of controlled burning is important to preserve the natural habitats and prevent the extinction of so many of our unique flora. I hope my work draws attention to this.
This is a reproduction giclee art print.

The inspiration to paint this little native wildflower comes from my backyard where they are growing naturally. Their common name is Milkmaids. I don't know why, but I presume the early British settlers brought the name with them. They are actually Burchardia conjestas.
They attract the ants too, so I had to include one of them.

I love these cute native perennial flowers which come in a range of colours, from white, to pink, to purple, to blue. They flower just before the really hot Aussie summers.
Mostly I love them because they attract lots of little insects, especially the tiny white flower spiders. They always see me coming and hide behind the petals and freeze, pretending to be part of the flower. Can you spot him in the painting?
Pink isotoma, or Woodbridge poison, or Isotoma hypocrateriformis is native to Western Australia. This painting is part of a series with Purple Iris, Red Lechenaultia, White Milkmaid and Yellow Hibbertia.

Little Native Irises or Patersonias grow in every state of Australia. They are distinguished by having just three petals. Also called Purple flags, they are visited by lots of little bugs, so I had to include one. You'll find these cute little bloomers in the forests of Western Australia.
Purple Iris is for anyone who loves Australian wildflowers. Or maybe you have someone special you’d like to gift it to.
This painting has been finished with a protective varnish. The painting continues around the sides of the internal frame, making decorative framing unnecessary and it is ready to hang in your home.

Bring a little bit of country into your home. You will love this unique artwork that will remind you of wide open spaces and warm country evenings.

Bush Litter is from one of my favourite paintings.
Australian native wildflowers and Eucalyptus trees are the most diverse in the world, but don't ignore the environment in which they grow. Look down to see the world that enriches and supports, and is the beginning of those big gum trees. From the decaying undergrowth the nuts will disperse the tiny seeds. They will settle in the natural mulch and begin their life.
This painting is to show the lovely warm colours and textures that we will often ignore. A beautiful warm organic painting.
Tread carefully. From little things, big things grow.
The image continues around the sides of the frame, so no need for decorative framing. Hang it directly on your wall.

How impressive would this look hanging in your home. Add a couple of orange mates to make a great trio.
I just love working with orange! Orange is for the brave. Here I wanted to also paint white. What colour is white? It is a reflection of the colours around it. This was a happy break from my botanical studies and I feel I have control over the arrangements of still life.Ready to hang.

Australia has many little native pea flowers. This one just appeared in my bush garden, so of course, I had to use it as my painting subject.
I especially love it's prickly leaves where little birds can feel safe when threatened.
The painting is continued around the sides, so there is no need for decorative framing and is ready to hang directly on your wall.

You will feel happy every day when you look at this colourful painting of sugary sweetness. Are you into colour like me? I find I can manipulate the colours and shapes of lollies to create pleasing setups for still life. They have a great way of catching the light. This is a high value painting, meaning overall it has a lighter tones.
I also get to snack on the lollies as I paint. Yum!
This painting will look great anywhere in your home, maybe an activity room or child's bedroom. Being very contemporary, it would hang beautifully in a modern home.
If you like this painting, but prefer one painted using different lollies, contact me for a commissioned piece.

So pretty. This will brighten your home and grab everyone’s attention. This sweet little pea flower is native to Australia. We have the best flora, don’t we? Pink and orange are nature’s colours. Who knew?
Kennedia coccinea (Coral vine) is a species of flowering plant in the family Fabaceae, endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. It is a low growing trailing shrub or climber, which has twining rust-coloured branchlets with rounded leaflets that are about 1.5 cm long and occur in threes. Orange red or scarlet pea flowers are produced in clusters between August and November in its native range.
This is an original oil painting and is finished with a protective varnish. The image continues around the sides of the frame, so decorative framing is unnecessary and it’s ready to hang.
