 FAQs

  • Ground Zero differs from other digital galleries in a number of ways.

The gallery provides affordable representation by charging only a low monthly fee and taking no commission from any sales made. At Ground Zero, artists are paid directly by their buyers, meaning they do not have to wait for the gallery to release their income to them, nor are they subjected to blanket shipping and returns policies, like free domestic shipping or free 7-day returns.

The gallery does not impose annual or periodic sales on artworks, so artists can remain in control of their price point and are not subjected to discounts they didn’t authorise or approve.

Artists are treated equally at Ground Zero and receive equal levels of promotion on the platform, and are not subjected to preferences based on the amount of sales they do or don’t make. With all artist paying the same amount to appear on the site, all artists receive equal benefits and equal levels of artistic recognition.

Ground Zero endeavours to provide artists with a full service, so all artist pages are set-up and maintained monthly by the gallery. Each month, every page is looked at and compared alongside other platforms or websites where those artists appear, to ensure their prices remain correct, and sold works can be removed and replaced with newer works. Maintaining pages on behalf of artists helps ensure that artist are not burdened with the task of uploading works and entering the relevant data, and can simply get on with the business of creating!

  • It only costs AUD$20 per month to be apart of the gallery.

  • Each month you’ll be sent an invoice via email that will give you the option to pay either via direct bank transfer or PayPal.

  • That’s a great question and I have provided a detailed answer to this on the gallery’s About page.

  • Yes you can! You won’t be reimbursed for the month you’re currently in, but you will not be invoiced for any future months thereafter. Because Ground Zero Gallery does not take direct, automatic payments, you will not have to worry about any future payments being debited from your account. To cancel your subscription, you’ll just need to notify me via email.

  • If you have a website where you sell your artworks, I link each artwork on your Ground Zero page directly there, so buyers can purchase directly from you. If you don't currently have a site, I take the initial enquiries from buyers on your behalf and pass on your preferred payment details at that point.

Please be aware that Ground Zero does not take any direct payments or handle artwork sales on behalf of artists, so you will require a website with a cart, or a direct payment method that buyers can pay you via, in order to join the gallery.

  • That’s right, Ground Zero Gallery takes absolutely 0% commission from your sales. As you will deal with payments directly, Ground Zero has absolutely no involvement beyond promoting you and your work. And really, isn’t that the way it should be?!

  • There is no set criteria you need to meet to join the gallery. I do ask that when you make an inquiry about joining, you provide existing links to your work and/or images you have. This is just to ensure that you are an artist demonstrating skill.

  • Yes, any artist that can speak English fluently and demonstrate artistic skill can join Ground Zero Gallery.

  • If you have a website where your artworks appear, I can take the images and details directly from there to streamline this process for you.

If you do not currently have a website or any other online profile where images and details of your works can be sourced, I will ask for these details via email and, for each work you send through, I require the following information:

    • The name of the work (if titled)

    • The dimensions of the work

    • The medium/s used and the surface type the work has been created on

    • The price of the work

You’re also welcome to include a description of each work if you like, but this is totally optional.

Any future works you create will be added to your page in exactly the same manner.

Ground Zero Gallery aims to provide artists with a full service, that includes the initial set-up and monthly maintenance of their artist page. Artists can absolutely indicate and provide a preference on which works are included on their pages, but the actually backend uploading and maintenance is completed by the gallery, not the artist. This ensures artist are relinquished of this task, which is often very time consuming.

  • There is no specific number of works your page is restricted to, but I recommend artists keep their artist page limited to 3 individual pages, where each page will contain 15 - 18 works each.

  • You do not require an artist bio. If you do have an existing one, I can upload it to your artist page when your page is initially set up.

  • You can receive payment for the sale of your works in one of two ways. If you have a website, I link each artwork on your Ground Zero page directly to the corresponding artwork on your website, allowing buyers to purchase directly from you. If you don’t currently have a website, I can supply your preferred payment method directly to buyers when they make an enquiry about your work. You’re welcome to supply these payment details when you initially join the gallery.

The Ground Zero Gallery website does not contain a cart, because the gallery does not take any direct payments on behalf of artists, to ensure artists receive their payments directly and in full.

  • Because I do not take payment for the sale of your works, I also do not organise shipping, that will be up to you to determine. When you initially join the gallery, I will ask for your shipping information and I include those details at the conclusion of your artist page for buyers to view.

  • Similar to shipping, framing will be up to you, the artist, to determine. When you initially join the gallery, I will ask for your framing information and I include those details at the very bottom of your artist page for buyers to view.

  • Because you, the artist, will handle your payments and shipments directly, you will also determine your personal returns policy. This policy can be specified on your artist page on its initial setup.

  • Yes you can sell your work yourself, but there are a few benefits to joining Ground Zero Gallery.

Right now I manage all artist pages as well as the Ground Zero Gallery site, meaning you don’t have to worry about the technical aspects of uploading your work online, or paying for a website or web developer to create one for you. Additionally, I take all the initial inquiries from buyers and am always the first point of contact, meaning you don’t have to be. And finally, and most importantly, I actively promote the gallery full time, in an attempt to get as many eyeballs on the site as possible. Currently the site experiences several hundred visitors and day, and rising! Many artists I’ve previously worked with find this frequency of promotion difficult to achieve, as they constantly need to balance their time between producing their art and promoting themselves.

That being said, I still need your help! I always need artists to mention the gallery on their social media sites and tell other artists they know about it. Together we can create something wonderful and ensure artists make real money from the works they create, without losing a substantial amount to the high commissions charged by both physical and digital galleries.
