I love playing with fish as the subject of still life. I'm attracted to the colours of a gaudy fairground with a dash of pop art. This little painting is boldly coloured and perfect for adding life to a neglected corner or shelf of treasured objects. Wherever I can I rescue canvases and repaint them with gesso to create a new artwork. Lurking under my fish was a collage. This provides texture to painting's surface and if you look closely you may see lines of cut out paper shapes from the previous artist's work.

I'm inspired by pop art, the colours are bright and vivid with a nostalgic feel. Fish seem very symbolic of our group behaviour and pecking orders as human, as well as reflect a fragility of the environment.

A small painting that fits in a secret corner or on a shelf. I'm influenced by 1960s pop art and use fish to create a still life against a variety of background colours and patterns. Fish in many cultures are a symbol of fertility, abundance and prosperity. But look closely - my fish have speckles of blood. Are they alive or dead?
Despite the jaunty pop art style and the colourful palette, these fish are a lament for the environment and our disregard for the sea. Perhaps the symbolism of fish has changed?

A nostalgic pretty vase of flowers that has a sort of art deco feel to it. The flowers are old school roses and lavender. I love gardens and flowers and this is part of a series of small floral bouquets.
