Pamela Woods

Hi, I’m Pamela Woods, also known as 'classbunny'. I have worked as a print illustrator, filmmaker and teacher. Most recently, I have exhibited independently with a solo show at the 2024 Barraba Arts Festival in NSW. I am a 3-time champion of Art Battle, an international live painting competition. In November 2024, I became the first Australian champion and represented Australia in the world championships in Macau in 2025.

I believe in art for all, and teach classes in watercolour and art with my business 'classbunny.' Teaching helps me to pursue new techniques and ideas and hone my skills. It also gets me out of the solitary studio to share art with others. I have now taught thousands of people and regularly hold sessions in the beautiful Blue Mountains.

I'm hugely influenced by and admire British pop artists from the 60's and 70's, such as David Hockney, Dougie Field and Peter Blake, as well as Australian pop artists Martin Sharp and Peter Kingston. Having worked as a print illustrator, my work is graphic and illustrative in style. I enjoy bold colour combinations and clean lines, yet I still like to see the hand of the artist in the work, in addition to the brushstrokes and small imperfections.

  • I love painting sardines and their alarmed expressions, and I like to place them in front of various backgrounds. Sometimes they swim in front of abstract backgrounds and, in this picture, they lie on a yellow plate resting on a blue and white striped cloth.

  • I'm a foodie and remember the places I've travelled and the conversations I've had in cafes and tavernas with red and white tablecloths and a glass of wine. This painting is of sardines in one of those places in Portugal. I love painting sardines, they are so everyday, yet so extraordinary.

  • I love to paint fish, at some point I will move on, but at the moment I am finding so many variations and ways to experiment with patterns and these still life subjects. I paint what I like, what I enjoy, so I am very lucky that sometimes people like my work enough to buy a picture, which means I can keep on painting and experimenting. These fish are painted with a combination of matt blue, pink and acrylics. The style I always gravitate to is a sort of pop style, as I started out as a magazine and print illustrator.

  • A painting that is naif in style and playing with the idea of the crazy cat lady and succulent lady.

  • Acrylic on canvas

  • I'm a cat lady. Love cats. This is a joyful picture celebrating the quirky habits of cats as they hide and they watch.

  • I love painting fish. They present endless ways to experiment with pattern and composition. My style is playful and influenced by pop art.

  • Part of a series of blue men I'm currently working on. My work reflects my early career as an illustrator. My style is graphic, brightly coloured and influenced by comics.

  • I love pears, to eat as well as paint. The roundedness of them, the colours from green, to red, to yellow, to white, as well as the patina of the skin. They remind me of the seasons and nature.

  • This painting is a snapper on a plate in bright colours. It’s a cheerful picture, perfect to brighten a dining nook or kitchen.

  • I'm influenced by pop art from the sixties and my work references colours and everyday objects. This painting of sardines in a fantastical tin is typical of my work. The painting is small and is a perfect companion to other 'nostalgic' nice nacs on a shelf or a cosy corner.

  • Bright, fun, pop art style sardines. I love painting in a fun, fresh, pop style. My influences are British pop art of the 1960s. I paint on acrylic for brightness of colour and speed of laying paint down because, once I'm in the zone, I don't want to pause to let paint dry.

  • In the winter months I'm craving the flowers that turn up in spring. I want the flowers to vibrate with bright colour and optimism.

  • My style is colourful and pop art influenced. I'm fascinated by painting fish. I paint them against a variety of patterns and backgrounds. My work is commenting on the environment. Are my fish alive or dead? A source of food? Or paused? Fish are a symbol of prosperity and abundance in many cultures. Artists have often used fish in their still life compositions and I'm no exception. I find the possibilities for experimentation with the humble little fish are endless.

  • I love painting sardines, I find them quite beautiful, yet humble and easily recognisable. My interest is in using them as a still life subject that I can use to explore colour, pattern and composition.

  • Beachy colours and a sardine waits on a plate on a colourful placemat. I love painting sardines, they have so much character.
