Life is often compared to a roller coaster ride, with its ups and downs, twists and turns. Just like a rollercoaster, life can be thrilling and exhilarating at times, but it can also be challenging and full of unexpected twists. It’s important to hold on tight, enjoy the highs, and brace yourself for the lows, knowing that the ride will eventually level out and bring you to new experiences and opportunities. Embracing the ups and downs of life can lead to growth, resilience and a deeper appreciation for the journey.

The inspiration behind my abstract painting of the neon lights on Broadway stems from the electrifying energy and captivating allure of this iconic street. Broadway is known for its dazzling display of neon signs, which illuminate the cityscape and create a vibrant atmosphere. The neon lights on Broadway evoke a sense of excitement and theatricality, drawing people in with their vibrant colours and mesmerizing glow. They symbolize the vibrant entertainment industry and the bustling nightlife that defines the heart of New York City. In my abstract painting, I aim to capture the essence of this vibrant street scene by the use of neon pink and lighter vibrant colours. The abstract style allows me to convey the movement and energy of the neon lights, while also leaving room for interpretation and personal connection.

This painting tells the story of overcoming inertia. I’d been feeling flat, overrun by obligations that scatter and wear down my creative juices. Even though it had been a while since I’d made time to pick up my brush, I knew that as soon as I did, the light would shine through for me again. It’s like picking up again with an old friend after an absence and you don’t miss a beat.
