  • From a memory of an inland road trip where the eye could see unobstructed views of crumbled Australian countryside, and the remaining trees of the seemingly baron landscape swayed gently in the light breeze of the dusty pink skies.

  • The arranged flowers in the vase rest on a bench top. Initially peacefully and unmoving. The vase solid and heavy, it grounds all that rests inside of it. The flowers sprouting from the vase are holding their arrangement, however beginning to be disturbed by the frantic movement around them. The energy around is excited, tousled and unabated. It shows no sign of comprehension of the delicateness of the flowers petals and continues to move swiftly. The flowers must not be swept up by external forces, but resistance feels arduous. So they continue to withstand all that surrounds them, taking strength from what houses them. A reminder to find stillness in busy times.

The artwork sits within a custom made Tasmanian Oak frame with a dark chocolatey stain. The darkened timber really emphasises the bright, colourful artwork, providing a strong dark contrast against the playful pop of colours - also highlighting the contrast within the story of the painting.

  • The wind blows, the ocean swells. Ripples become tidal waves and waterfalls cascade over the landscape. A moment of change to evoke such energy. Yet despite the unruly watery scene, in the bottom right corner, we can see two figures standing close to one another, a flame lit brightly between them. They are protected from the swells that rage around them as their focus remains solely on one another. The same colours as the waterfall, they run the risk of absorbing the turbulence of the water. Yet if they hold strong to one another, the flame will always remain.

    But what do you see?

  • The Open Sea is part 2 of 3 of my "The Boat Race" series. Fighting waves and wind, these boats are making their way across the open sea in the midst of a boat race.

I have used playful, bright colours to evoke happy feelings, and texture in the ocean to represent excitement and pace. The race is on and it is anyone's guess as to who is going to win this challenge!

This series could also be mixed and matched with my "A Boat Time" series as a collection.

  • Midnight Pines captures the quiet descent of land beneath a fading sky, where forms blur and the forest becomes suggestion rather than shape. Burnt umber, red clay, blackened earth and ochre fold into one another in muted layers, evoking a twilight landscape where vision falters and outlines dissolve. Sparse vertical strokes hint at the presence of stripped trees - bare, silent witnesses fading into shadow. The composition slopes gently but persistently, grounding the viewer in a moment where earth, night and memory converge. A consideration of the unseen and the half-seen, Midnight Pines invites stillness and introspection.

  • Layered Earth delves beneath the surface, capturing the layered complexity of the Earth's crust through abstract form. Earthy tones - burnt umber, ochre, clay red, yellow oxide and slate - flow across the canvas in organic planes, evoking the slow, powerful processes of geological time. Like a cross-section of the planet itself, the piece invites the viewer to contemplate what lies beneath: memory, pressure, transformation. A quiet homage to the deep time of our planet.

  • Sunburnt Breeze evokes the stillness and subtle motion of a sun-drenched land touched by coastal air. A rich terracotta background suggests scorched earth, while soft, sweeping brushstrokes drift across the canvas - echoes of a gentle breeze rolling in from the sea. A pale beige sun rests in the top left corner, diffused and quiet, casting a hazy warmth over the scene. To the right, tall trees in dreamlike pink and blue rise with a quiet presence, their colours softened by salt and heat. Hints of gold and beige shimmer throughout, recalling dry grasses, sandy paths and sea air. Impressionistic and grounded in memory, the work captures a fleeting moment where land, light and air converge.

  • This impressionistic abstract painting invites the viewer into a mysterious and contemplative landscape. At its heart is a cloaked figure standing at the edge of a cliff, gazing out over an expansive body of water. With his back turned and head slightly tilted away, he appears immersed in deep reflection, yet the posture suggests a sense of quiet resolve rather than solitude. The soft lavender and deep purples that surround him enhance the atmosphere, creating a peaceful, almost meditative mood.

  • A visual celebration of colour and emotion, Pink Party captures the magnetic pull of distant joy. At its core is a bold, radiant magenta - a central beacon around which the composition unfolds. The atmosphere feels alive, as though a party is happening just out of reach, its energy wafting over like warm air scented with laughter and light.

Varying shades of pinks, oranges and sun washed yellows blend into one another, softened by creamy undertones that lends a dreamy, nostalgic texture.

Flecks of gold paint are scattered across the surface, catching the light and pervading the distant laughter - adding a sense of revelry, shimmer and movement.

Set against a rose pink background, the piece invites the viewer to linger at the edge of festivity - curious, tempted, and warmed by its distant glow.

  • A lone ship sails steadily across a shifting turquoise sea, its white sails tinged faintly with beige on one side, catching the light and the changing wind. Half-swallowed by a rising turquoise wave, its journey caught between concealment and revelation. The sea, painted in layered hues of deep and pale turquoise, undulates with a quiet intensity, while a heavy stillness pools in the bottom right - an ominous calm just beneath the cresting swell. Above, a lone kite dances against a sky brushed with dimmed sun-yellow and drifting whites, suggesting light diffused through wind-laced clouds.
This abstract impressionistic work captures a suspended moment: gentle but charged, as though the ocean itself is holding its breath before the wind rises and the storm arrives.

  • A dreamlike convergence of sea and sensation, Beneath the Surface invites the viewer into a layered oceanic realm where nothing is quite what it seems. Set against a sap green backdrop, wafts of lighter greens, whites and yellow-orange highlights drift and swirl like currents in motion. The illusion of a faint silhouette of a lighthouse lingers in the distance. A solitary deep turquoise form - perhaps a boat - floats on the surface, ambiguous in its stillness. But in the depths below, partially obscured by shifting colour and shadow, a formidable shark with an open mouth emerges from the lower right, its presence looming and unresolved. The suggestion of danger alters perception: is the boat truly a vessel, or merely the tip of the predator rising? This abstract impressionistic work explores duality, illusion, and the quiet tension between the seen and the sensed.

  • In Whispers Beyond the Horizon, abstract expression meets quiet narrative. A moody palette of blues, purples, beige, black and yellow forms a dreamlike atmosphere where layers of colour drift and collide like weathered memories. Amid this shifting wash, two lone trees stand on a subtle landscape, halfway down and slightly to the right - grounded yet fragile. Above them, a hazy sun in hues of purple and beige peeks over the horizon, dissolving into soft cloudlike forms. Black strips cut through the composition like fractures or threads, hinting at unseen forces or the persistence of time. The result is a piece that feels both expansive and intimate - a fleeting vision caught between day and dusk, chaos and calm.

  • A meditative interplay of light and shadow, Emberfall features a black canvas partially consumed by cascading hues of orange, pink, beige and magenta. These warm tones pour downward like molten light, leaving only a sliver of untouched blackness at the base - a quiet void resisting the flood of colour. At the bottom right, three fine vertical pink stripes stand in silent rhythm, suggesting presence, balance, or memory amid the flow. This minimal yet emotive composition invites reflection on transformation, erosion, and the tension between stillness and movement.

  • At the heart of this abstract reverie stands a hollowed arch, shaped like a house - a symbol of memory, of origin, of the self. Its chimney points skyward like a silent signal, but there is no smoke, no flame - only the echo of presence. The path leading to it is intersected by a stream (the flow of time) and the exposed trunk of a tree (ancestry, grounding, forgotten growth).

The arch itself is both portal and barrier, suggesting passage but withholding promise. What lies beyond remains veiled, inviting the viewer to confront what they carry within.

In tones of soft pink (innocence), lavender (spirit), white (emptiness, potential), and beige (earth, skin, familiarity), the piece becomes a map of interior terrain - a symbolic crossing into what we long for, remember, or have yet to understand.

  • Football Season captures a dynamic, ethereal moment in the blur of excitement and movement, infused with the spirit of the game, yet detached from its literal form. Large ghost-like figures emerge from the canvas as if running onto the field in a burst of energy. The leaders arms raised in anticipation, a collective surge of players both in motion and in a dream like state, invoking a sense of movement and excitement.

These translucent silhouettes create a sense of intensity but also distance, as if viewed through a foggy lens. The figures seem both ephemeral and powerful, as if frozen in a moment between reality and memory.
