Yazz

I live and paint in Austin, Texas but draw inspiration from my life's many travels and experiences. My art explores themes of womanhood, nature, empowerment and multiculturalism.

I believe art allows us to connect with one another in a real, intimate and respectful way. It speaks to our inner lives, our secrets and our dreams. It is a powerful medium that offers us the opportunity to experience acceptance and freedom.

I hope you find something that speaks to your heart and, if you feel so inclined, I would treasure the opportunity to hear what you think of my work.

  • This piece is a reminder that everyone is exotic on some level. I grew up with Birds of paradise flowers everywhere and never saw the beauty of these remarkably unique plants until I moved far away from my native homeland and discovered that just like this plant, I too was considered to be "exotic".

  • A study of the light reflecting in the night sky in the shape of a crescent moon, or the pupil of a large monster. The viewer's perspective will shape which of these images are first seen.

  • Autumn’s Equinox captures the quiet tension of seasonal change—where balance hangs in the air and everything feels briefly suspended. With soft-edged branches set against glowing layers of amber and dusk, this piece evokes a moment that is both still and shifting. The piece holds presence—anchored by confident color and emotive contrast. It continues my exploration of memory, movement, and the emotional language of nature.
