Lorraine Brown
Lorraine Brown has always felt a connection with the art of watercolour. The medium’s ability to create unique and unexpected results, and its risk and surprise, were special and attractive qualities to the artist, who found risk and surprise at every turn in her creative and professional life. Her expressive works are the product of her desire to story tell and to capture the essence of a subject. Working predominantly in watercolour, Lorraine likes to play with creating textures and taking risks, and going anywhere her imagination might take her. Other watermedia and collage enrich her art journey.
She defines her vivid works as “expressive impressions”, a blend of realism and abstraction, and is constantly searching for new ways to use her medium. She holds watercolour classes and workshops throughout Adelaide and shares her painting process with regular content on You Tube.
Lorraine's paintings are held in private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas.

Waratahs, with their vibrant red, cup-shaped flowers, are a favourite among nectar-feeding birds like the honeyeater. The birds are attracted to the copious amounts of nectar deep within the flower.

These graceful birds have always been a favourite subject for me. The vibrant colour on the face of the Great egret, along with their flowy plumage when breeding, adds to the excitement when creating a work.

A work inspired by the beauty of a Forest Pansy Tree in full bloom and in full view from my studio window. Clusters of pinks and magenta tiny blossoms, which in a short time remerge as heart shaped leaves. Capturing the essence of this wonderful tree, combined with the opportunity to include a colour matched bird, ensured a unique and original work.
