The sea had pulled back at low tide and the soft sand revealed rocks that were otherwise submerged. Large clouds were buffeted by the wind as the sky darkened with an impending storm.
This is part of a series of works I started on a road trip on the north west coast of Tasmania. I have an art studio in a Toyota van and I would stop and sketch and paint. There is so much to look at and so much stopping, I didn't drive more than 80km a day!

This peaceful seascape is almost monotonal - a deep grey, blue-green and white, with highlights of metallic gold and small highlights of black.

I had stopped not far out of Swansea in Tasmania, and the sky and the clouds seemed towering over the undulating fields and sea in the distance. The massive cumulus just seemed to drift out to the ocean.
This is part of a series of works I started on a road trip on the north west coast of Tasmania. I have an art studio in a Toyota van and was able to stop, sketch and paint.

The Tuhawaiki Point Lighthouse, or Jack's Point Lighthouse, stands near to Timaru at the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It has amazing views and is a beautiful walk along the coast.
This seascape focuses on the lighthouse with a gold leaf "light" and gold sailboats.
This elegant palette is of a denim blue, pure white and some greys with gold. The paint has been layered in soft opaque layers to build up depth. The waves have highlights of gold and a sprinkling of gold spray.
The gold leaf changes and shimmers in the change of lighting.
