The brilliance of a summer sunset has inspired this painting, as well as a passion for the landscape. The painting moves from bright sky to deep shadowy foreground. There is loads of texture, giving the painting more shadow and light.

The farmland of north eastern Victoria is a vista of rolling hills interspersed with trees and paths and an endless ever changing sky line. This painting is inspired by a trip to Myrtleford where the walks in spring enable exploration of this weathered, textured farmland and wide vistas. The ominous skyscape seemed to merge with the ever rolling hills.

Working with textures to create an abstract view of life has developed from my love of all things living and, of course, the trees being my go to connection to life. This painting is abstract and has several layers depicting life, past and present. The painting is heavily textures and reflects the colours of our beautiful land.

The Daintree River and forest are places to walk and wonder. The river, the hills and valleys are alive with the beauty and energy of an environment that we are in danger of losing. This painting is a textured abstract view of my impressions of the beautiful clear, ever moving waters and monolithic rocks forming the ebb and flow of the river. It is also an expression of how I feel about this amazing country. This painting now has the movement that represents the ever changing nature of the land.

Bayside Melbourne has many great walks. One favourite is the stretch from Sandy to Black Rock, taking in the cliffs of Half Moon Bay. This is the next in this series of clifftop paintings, this time capturing that bright light that illuminates the shoreline as the sun is overtaken by a storm moving in. The tips of the leaves and foliage seem larger than life as they toss in the wind and reflect the last of the sun.

The love of our land and its many amazing natural forms has been my inspiration once again. The rocks have loads of texture and there are never ending shapes in that texture. The red rocks and surrounds contain the past pathways and fossils that tell a unique story. This painting represents the heart of life. Although not large, the painting packs a punch of colour.

Our land, our country from sea to mountains. This painting, A Slice of Heaven, comes from a desire to interpret how very lucky we are. Abstracting the land in harmonious, pastel colours represents a little slice of heaven.
