"Untamed" is the story of a young wife in a tumultuous marriage, whose church insists she stay with her abuser in order to remain faithful in God’s sight. In time, the young woman finds refuge, courage and freedom in the same God they claimed would fault her for fleeing a hell He never intended marriage to be in the first place.
After learning the heartbreaking truth about rampant emotional and religious abuse in contemporary Christian marriages, I felt compelled to share this story with the world, loudly, boldly and publicly. The abuse may be hidden in private, even invisible, but the healing of its survivors will be anything but.
"Untamed" was painted in 2025 on high quality gallery wrapped canvas.
For this piece, I chose to work primarily with transparent high flow acrylics to preserve the drawings, while also adding expressive, primal energy with bold hues like red iron oxide and phthalo turquoise. To add dimension, and an element of raw, unpolished texture, I used layers of modeling paste and heavy gloss gel. Collaged within the painting are excerpts from poems, songs or devotionals which add to the story of "Untamed."
My hope is that women may feel validated, empowered and inspired to find freedom, faith and a future free from oppression and abuse. While I realize "Untamed" is not for everyone, I am content with this truth. The viewers who do connect with it - those are the souls it was meant to reach.

An expressive portrait of woman and nature, sharing in vernal renewal and metamorphosis. New life. New growth. Organic, authentic, radiant rebirth. A reminder to leave yourself room to grow and time to become the best version of yourself. Oil over acrylic is one of my favorite methods to use, as it adds layers of depth, dimension and texture. Each layer, each medium, each brushstroke, is a part of the story being told. My hope is that others will connect and resonate with the hope and empowerment I find in “Radiant Rebirth.”

I find myself gravitating towards flowers on a daily basis, fascinated by their delicate beauty, intricate details and breathtaking hues. But while viewing flowers with my 2 year old niece, I stumbled upon a childlike joy and wonder that shifted my perspective. Instead of straining and striving to recreate every technical detail of each complex bloom, what if I gave myself the freedom to recreate the essence of these florals, the life and joy and wonder and vibrance we saw in the world as children. I allowed myself to dream vivid dreams of colorful flowers, as I wanted to see them. “Dreams in Bloom” is a primal, passionate expression of vernal beauty and chromatic catharsis. My hope is that others out there who are looking to heal out loud and prefer vibrant hues over hushed tones, will be inspired to nurture their own dreams and let them bloom.
