Elisha McGuckin
Having qualified and worked as a florist early on, Elisha moved into high-end fashion retail, giving her an extensive understanding of colour and design. Elisha has refined her own unique style and applies expressive brushstrokes, whilst respecting the influence of her father’s technical drawing skills and the sign writing techniques passed on from her grandfather.
Though not professionally trained, she has continued to practice the arts alongside her working career for most of her life. Having attended the Fremantle Art Centre for several years under the guidance of fabulous tutors, she decided in 2016 that it was time to start making steps towards pursuing a career as an artist.
This decision aligned with that of starting a family in 2018, and slow gradual steps and the influence of family life lead to her first solo art exhibition, “Argh! What A Mess”, in 2022. After a successful show that shared her own personal journey of motherhood, Elisha was hooked. Another solo show, “All Consumed”, followed in 2023 and delved further into the world of consumerism and pop art. Just a few months later, a group show, “Through Her Eyes”, allowed Elisha to share an extension of her earlier motherhood collection.
Having successes in art awards and respected by her peers, Elisha is constantly driven to create more work. She is a disciplined practitioner who works a delicately balanced lifestyle of artist and mother.

Killer Pythons had to feature in this playfully rebellious collection of paintings, against all health food advice I have indulged in extra large bags of lollies, lots of colour and plenty of pattern.
Continuing with a humorous perspective, I could not resist creating a murder scene of this painting, complete with blood red fingerprints, these killer pythons will be suspicious on your walls.
The knives painted in silver pop in the background, but do not detract from the red bag of killer pythons expressively painted in the foreground.

It’s a title you just have to sing. These nostalgic treats were a pleasure to paint, right down to the details in the sugar granules.
As part of my Be Treatwise collection, I painted the iconic Jubes, discovering along the way they have one of the highest sugar content levels. This aside, I hung the packet in my studio and painted the packet as I saw it.
The beauty of painting from life, not a photo, is the imperfect way in which your eyes see. I translate the packet to canvas with layers of smooth expressive brushstrokes, bringing this oversized packet of lollies to life.
These works are intended to draw attention to, and poke a bit of fun at, the somewhat pointless (tiny) health advice labels on the packet.

It all started with beer cans and bottles back in 2010's, but the journey has continued through paintings and drawings. "Energy Rating Party Vibes" is a 2025 release that continues my fascination with the colour, shapes and the way in which light impacts objects.
I hyper focus on the object that sits in front, with smooth expressive layers of paint, I build a painting rich in colour and bring the subject to life. I paint not with an intent for realism, but instead a translation of what my eyes and my body feels.
With a strong pop art influence and love of colour, this painting is part of a series that draws attention to the somewhat 'irrelevant' (because they are so tiny) health food warning labels on food packaging.
