The Colourbond Series are paintings of individual-style Queenslander homes, ranging from colonial worker's cottages, to triple gables Ashgrovian and Spanish-mission style, just to name a few. Each piece is so named because of the roof colour matching the Colorbond steel colours in Australia. Each artwork employs large areas of clashing foreground colour plains, a middle-ground house and the background suggesting the sub-tropical backyards and views beyond. Highly colourful, these works allowed me to place unlikely colour companions in a deliberately challenging way.
This reproduction is available in a limited run of 1000 editions. Reproductions are made to order and are ready in approximately 10-14 days.
Reproductions are printed on American-made 350gsm IJP Pro Edition Canvas with archival Canon Lucia EX pigment Inks and varnished with UV-resistant Aquathane Laminate, which keeps the artwork from fading for 100 years when displayed correctly.
Canvases are stretched by hand on environmentally friendly, Queensland-grown Araucaria pine and come ready to hang. Alternatively, they can be purchased rolled (without stretching), which can then be shipped easily in a postage tube.
Each reproduction comes with a numbered and signed Certificate of Authenticity and is covered by a lifetime warranty.

Brisbane sunsets of spicy saffron hold us in awe and as daylight closes, a shimmering blanket of blazing red and orange spread across Brisbane hills. This fiery glow reflects over the tin roofs kissing our Queenslanders goodnight. Saffron Sunset Over Brisbane focuses on the inner city hills of Rosalie, Paddington, Bardon and Red Hill.

Typical of postwar homes in the area of Camp Hill, Carina and Mount Gravatt etc, this place sat on a large sparse block and random concrete paths and garden edges. Many are being pulled down and replaced by the cookie-cutter block homes that take up most of the land. Asbestos was included on many building materials from 1930-1970 and this makes them a fiscal challenge to modify and renovate.
Estelle's on Stanley is a family's tribute to their grandmothers house, now replaced but never forgotten.

A reworking of Debra's well-known Sentinels on Riding Road (c. 2016).
Riding Road is a picturesque tree-lined thoroughfare running from Wynnum Road, Morningside to Oxford Street, Bulimba. Lining each side of the road are 60-year-old, Melaleuca quinquenervia, or paperbark trees. These were planted to create a pleasantly themed road at a time when Riding Road was parted with a tramline. Like giant sentinels, these trees have kept watch over locals for generations, providing a shaded sidewalk for school children, strollers, and dogwalkers alike. Their ugliness is their beauty; their peeling, shredded bark reveals a gallery of magnificent patterns and colours and their creamy brush blossoms confuse us with their sickly-sweet honey scent. As one side of the road hosts power poles with wires running through the paperbarks, the trees receive an unflattering and savage prune directly through the canopy centre, this operation is known by local families as the Telstra Haircut.
My signature style is reflected in Riding Road, with numerous small details, such as dogs and birds, scattered throughout the artwork.

Showcasing the brilliant architecture of one of Australia's Sandstone Universities, University of Queensland features iconic buildings from each of the University of Queensland's four campuses, all nestled in my signature confetti.
The buildings from each campus highlight the change in Queensland's architectural styles; from the Federation buildings in Gatton, to the grander, early 20th-century styles at Herston and St Lucia, to the modern design of the recently opened School of Pharmacy at Dutton Park.

Nestled within Poet's Corner in Bulimba, this classic transverse gable lies a stone's throw from the historic Bulimba barracks, and is a reminder of post-war life and architecture amongst an ever-changing skyline.
My playful composition draws your eye into the centre of the artwork, while still providing some good resting places, as you absorb the colours that I’m known for.

The artwork Clock Tower Romance Under a Papaya Sky was created for the Lord Mayor's Business Awards in 2022.
Depicting the Traffic Signal Box that I painted as part of Brisbane Art Force Project (located on Adelaide Street at King George Square), this piece reflects the brilliant orange skies that so often grace Brisbane in the early morning or late evening. These vivid hues are due to a phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering.
Needing to beat the Brisbane midday heat, I arrived daily at sunrise to paint the Traffic Signal Box and found this urban environment enveloped in stillness, where the light played with the colours and shapes amongst the different architectural elements. This gives the viewer a slightly disconcerting feeling, however the two City hall Clock Towers hold the connection to a familiar and enduring place in time. Their history, beauty, romance, nostalgic and continuing narratives are embraced by the Brisbane locals and visitors alike.

Brisbane CBD Blocks focuses on the top floors of many Brisbane buildings and their designs and patterns that we instantly recognise. Others are not so iconic however, whilst they live in the shadows of their more famous peers, their presence and character are equally inspirational.
The grid pattern in this work suggests the block pattern of Brisbane's CBD streets and the colour of the background is to evoke a feeling of strength and industry - much like massive steel girders and beams that underpin the cities existence, slightly rusted metal, holding its form to control the chaos.
