Art is in my genes, creativity is heritable. I am a self taught artist, but have had private and group tuition from my favourite artists, Walter Magilton (Warrandyte) and Jenny Mitchell (Montsalvat Eltham), both of whom are very much admired.

Being European and self taught, I could be classified as "Une Naive Artiste", a common expression used in Europe which is often given to a self taught artist. It celebrates the perspective of an artist and rejects the insincere sophistication that is upheld as a core value within more traditional forms of art. Art has always been a big part of my life and my father was an extremely talented artist and photographer. I am also a descent of the well known Flemish/Dutch artist Jan van Eyck, a heritage I am very proud of.

I am drawn to the vibrancy and energy of bright colours, using oil, acrylic charcoal and a lot of texture. Bright and brilliant colours can have a powerful effect on emotions in an art work. Creating abstract nonrepresentational art is a big part of my inner feeling and personality, it is the ultimate freedom of visual expression where there are "NO RULES". My own slogan is LIFE IS ART, LIVE IT IN COLOUR.
