Kirana Haag

I was born in Germany, into a family of intellectuals. As a child, I often struggled to articulate my thoughts, leaving me feeling unheard and unconnected to those around me. Colours and images however, seemed to come easily to me and early on in life I found comfort in painting. Art became a passage that allowed me to express myself directly from the heart, without the need for words. I first saw pictures of Australia as a 10-year-old and somehow knew that it was destined to be my home. Then, in my late 20s, I met a lovely Western Australian couple traveling through Germany, that casually said, “If you’re ever in Australia, come visit”. Without hesitation, I booked flights the following week!

I travelled around this beautiful country with my young family for five months before finally settling in Broome, WA. With my extensive background in nursing, naturopathy and homeopathy, I took the leap and started my own natural health practice. I spent ten years helping people achieve health and wellness. Despite the demands of running a business and raising a family, I never abandoned my passion for art. No matter where I lived, I made sure that I always had a studio. I soon realised my true passion was in painting and decided to step deeper into my journey as an artist.

As an artist, I am awakened to the intricate beauty of colour, form, space and shape. This heightened awareness fosters a deeper affection and tenderness for our world and nurtures a spirit of generosity in life. As I evolve as an artist, these qualities of kindness and love resonate within me, inspiring my work to reflect the importance of looking after one another. My artistic journey is one of growing into a deeper, kinder and gentler individual, with the aspiration to evoke these sentiments in others.
