Anne Toovey
Anne Toovey, based in Ipswich, Queensland, centres her practice on abstract, process-led painting, with a focus on surface, depth and subtle movement. She works intuitively, building layered compositions that hold a quiet, contemplative presence. While non-representational, her work often carries an atmospheric quality that encourages slow looking. Her paintings are inspired by the power and beauty of nature and are influenced by the works of J.M.W. Turner and Cy Twombly.
Anne returned to painting in early 2025, after a long career in education and arts management. She holds a Master of Creative Arts (Visual Arts), and her practice brings together formal training, with sustained studio inquiry. Her work develops through a studio-led process guided by observation and considered decision-making, allowing each painting to evolve without a fixed plan.
Anne’s work explores the interaction of light, texture and colour, creating compositions that reward careful observation and invite personal reflection. Her paintings aim to evoke a sense of atmosphere and emotion, capturing fleeting impressions rather than specific places. In November 2025, one of her paintings was awarded Best of Show at the Ipswich Art Awards.

Domestic (Australia) shipping is included in the artwork price. Local collection from Ipswich may be arranged by prior agreement, with the artwork’s price adjusted accordingly. Smaller works are typically shipped via Australia Post, with larger works shipped via courier, depending on size and destination.
International shipping is not currently offered, but can be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Artworks are usually dispatched within 5–7 business days once payment has been received.

All artworks are original, one-of-a-kind, and all sales are final. Returns are not accepted for change of mind. If an artwork arrives damaged in transit, please notify me within 48 hours at, annetooveyart@outlook.com with photographic evidence so the matter can be resolved (repair, replacement where possible, or refund).
Please be aware that many works feature layered surfaces and visible texture and texture may appear differently in person than in photos.
